On what I posted to consider I think with the Presonus you get quality and not a lot of hardware bells and whistles. So with the cash back plan they have if you are not happy it would be great to try before you have to be locked into buying. The thing is how will whatever you get work on your system.? That is the ultimate key for you. Wondering if you have a guitar center down there? I mean they are real good with a 30 day return plan and run a $30 to $50 off card often. Well at some point you will have to go with something or decide to stand pat. But if you go up to around $500 to slightly above all kinds of (more than 4 XLR inputs) units open up. What strikes me in looking around is a lack of choice in the $250 to $400 range. Note the EIGHT Mic Pres on this will probably smoke the Alesis and you get 24x96KHz converters.īut at this price might have to give a serious look to the presonus. Also for the USB unit I see it for $149 and I find it hard to belive you are upgrading much, may even be going backwards except for the extra mic inputs. Parting shot - It only has 2 stereo Mains out from one comment I read. If going USB and new I would think they would start making stuff USB 3 compliant. The link above shows about the same thing in USB, so that might be the deal there. Oh, I am getting a message that it is no longer produced if that matters to you. If I recall you were messing around with 96KHz and that is not on this unit. Also the A to D/A converter only does 24 bit to a top end of 48KHz conversion. My guess is they may be middle of the road, but may be fine for what your doing.

I did not have time to do that right now. On the input end you look covered but you might want to check out the mic pres. I think that is what you were fighting before and you should smoke that issue out for this device. If it were me I would hunt up what you can as far as comments on latency for Reaper, if that is your DAW. I was not able to find any big knocks against it in a quick search and the price looks like a steal for all those inputs. Looks nice, has 64 bit drivers support from about a year ago.
